The Psychology of Global Happiness & Well-Being
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of happiness and well-being from a psychological and cultural perspective, focusing on the global and diverse pathways to achieving well-being. Using Barcelona as a case study, students will delve into psychological theories, cross-cultural research, and local traditions to understand how different societies define and pursue happiness. Key topics include positive psychology, emotional resilience, mindfulness, and the roles of community, values, and purpose in shaping life satisfaction. Through lectures, discussions, and field visits, students will evaluate global research on happiness and examine practical strategies for enhancing personal and societal well-being. The course encourages self-reflection and equips students with tools to improve their own happiness while contributing to the well-being of others across diverse cultural contexts. Open to all disciplines, it emphasizes both academic study and real-world applications.
