Incredible and Unique

Explain why you chose those words.

I chose the word incredible because each day the I am here, I see something new and interesting. I chose the word unique, because Barcelona is an international city, with plenty of people from different countries.

What was your favorite place to eat in Barcelona? Favorite food?

My favorite place to eat in Barcelona is a cafe called Ugot. It’s just down the street from BIC and serves this awesome dish called “La Pagesada”. It has chorizo, roasted potatoes, and a sunny-side up egg! Fantastic place to go for brunch.

What was your favorite tour, day trip, or cultural activity? Why?

My favorite cultural activity was the cooking class because we all got to make amazing food together! My favorite day trip was to the Dalí museum. He is such an indescribable artist, and his theatre/museum is not to be missed!

Is there a site in Barcelona that you would recommend to future students that may be a little more “off the beaten path”?

I would recommend exploring different neighborhoods in Barcelona. My personal favorite is Grácia. It’s like a little village within the city of Barcelona. There’s great shopping and plenty of local hangouts there!

If you had one perfect day in Barcelona where would you go, and what would you do?

I would get a café con leche at my favorite cafe, then go to the labyrinth park in Barcelona. It’s beautiful and relaxing, with the songs of birds in the air rather than the sounds of traffic.

What was something you were surprised to learn about Barcelona or Spain? Or what aspect of the country or city were you least expecting?

I was surprised to learn that the people are friendly once you get to know them! I was not expecting that they use decimals in the place of commas when writing out numbers.

What is one piece of advice that you have for future students coming to Barcelona?

Pack light! Leave room in your suitcase for things you might buy here. Don’t be afraid to try new things and walk around by yourself. Don’t be afraid of the metro! It’s so convenient.
