Is there a site in Barcelona that you would recommend to future students that may be a little more “off the beaten path”?

Go to Antilla Salsa Disco! It was absolutely my favorite thing I have done while in Spain. They teach a class on Wednesday every week where they teach you the basic step and you get to dance with tons of different partners! Then you get to watch the locals dance like crazy and one of them may even ask you to dance too! I loved learning about this culture and watching the locals do their thing. I got asked to dance a few times and even though I wasn’t very good, the guys never minded and were patient and helped to guide me along. It was an incredible experience. Even if it’s out of your comfort zone I highly recommend just jumping in!

What is one piece of advice that you have for future students coming to Barcelona?

My piece of advice is to do absolutely everything you can! Fill up your days with things to do. Walk around town and find random restaurants. Do things that scare you. Try new foods! Practice your Spanish with the locals in stores and restaurants. Don’t just ask “Hablas ingles?” They will be happy that you are trying! Get out of your comfort zone! Do things that you aren’t used to doing even though it is weird! Don’t let yourself be held back because you are scared or you have no one to go with. If you want to go to a Flamenco show, go! If you want to go Salsa dancing, go! Want to go on a hike? Go! Squeeze every opportunity you can out of this place because it has a lot to offer and you only have a short time here so live it up!
