Absolutely amazing!

Explain why you chose those words.

Barcelona has so much to offer. There was always something going on, whether it was festivals, cultural events, or just the opportunity to explore. There was no time to be bored! The energy was amazing and I learned/saw something new every day.

What was your favorite place to eat in Barcelona? Favorite food?

I should name a restaurant, but my favorite place to eat was definitely at my homestay! My host mom was an amazing cook. There wasn’t a meal that I didn’t like. I’m a little picky about trying new foods, but living in a homestay allowed me to eat traditional foods that were oh-so-good!

What was your favorite tour, day trip, or cultural activity? Why?

My favorite thing about my study abroad experience was stepping out of my comfort zone and having the opportunity to do things that I wouldn’t usually do. I made life-long friends and I had the time of my life.

What was something you were surprised to learn about Barcelona or Spain? Or what aspect of the country or city were you least expecting?

I lived in a homestay with another American student and a host mom. I was nervous before coming because I didn’t know what to expect, but it was the best decision that I made. My host mom was so sweet, fun, understanding, and genuinely kind-hearted. She cared for me as if I was her own. Also, nothing is better than a home-cooked meal! I can’t speak for everyone, but my homestay experience was the best that I could’ve imagined.

What is one piece of advice that you have for future students coming to Barcelona?

There is so much to do and see in so little time. Don’t put things off because the time flies by and unfortunately, it’ll be over before you know it. Explore the city, but not only the touristy parts! Barcelona has SO much to offer, so make the most of it. Your study abroad experience is what you make it!
