If you were to sum up your Barcelona experience in one to two words, what would you say? My Barcelona Experience is…

Englightening and Profound

Explain why you chose those words.

Not only did I learn a lot about other cultures, art and architecture but I also got to learn things about myself that I did not know before.

What was your favorite place to eat in Barcelona? Favorite food?

I ate a lot. I love food…and before coming to Barcelona I had a friend recommend tons of restaurants that eventually was able to try. On the more expensive side, Botafumeiro and Nuba were absolutely delightful but I must say that my favorite restaurant was Sensi Tapas.

What was your favorite tour, day trip, or cultural activity? Why?

For me, the most impactful trip was the trip to Morocco, although I loved Sevilla and every other trip I took on my own, My experience in Morocco definitely changed my perspective of the world.

What was your housing experience like? Did you live in an apartment with other students? A homestay with a local family? A residence hall on your Barcelona campus?

I had a wonderful housing experience. I lived in a apartment in one of the best areas, Gracia. My commute to school was simple (the bus was way better than the metro) and my roommates were sweet so we got along well. My direct roommate was very nice and we had a very organic relationship so nothing felt forced or out of place.

Is there a site in Barcelona that you would recommend to future students that may be a little more “off the beaten path”?

Barcelona is huge and one should explore beyond what they see with their bare eyes. Not focus so much on the partying but more so on learning about the culture and the city’s historical value. The Gothic Quarter has a lot to offer. From the bes Xurreria to amazing tapa places.

If you had one perfect day in Barcelona where would you go, and what would you do?

I would go to Sagrada Familia, the beauty of this temple is beyond words and everyone should strive to experience it. I wish I could have met Gaudi and learned more from him personally but now I have all he has left behind to learn about his greatness.

What was something you were surprised to learn about Barcelona or Spain? Or what aspect of the country or city were you least expecting?

The fact that Barcelona no longer wants to be a part of Spain and that overall it does not feel attached to the country at the moment. I had no idea of the political situation that is currently happening in Barcelona prior to my stay here.

What is one piece of advice that you have for future students coming to Barcelona?

Submerge yourself in the culture, do not have any expectations, and mold yourself to whatever is brought to you.

Why was Barcelona SAE the right program for you?

Barcelona SAE was great – I was so happy and am deeply grateful for this experience.
