What are you up to these days? Have you graduated? Are you working? How did your experience in Barcelona have an impact on your life?
Studying in Barcelona was a great way to experience and immerse yourself into a new culture. My Spanish skills are much stronger than they were before I studied abroad. Barcelona is a unique blend of metropolitan and Mediterranean that’s difficult to find anywhere else.
What was your favorite place to eat in Barcelona? Favorite food?
There’s a place called “Cien Montaditos” that has “100 little bites” on their menu, and it’s pretty affordable. My favorite food was definitely the paella, especially if you like seafood!
What was your favorite tour, day trip, or cultural activity? Why?
I’m from the middle of the U.S., so for me the beach was awesome. A bonus is that there are tons of beautiful beaches up and down the coast of Catalonia.
Is there a site in Barcelona that you would recommend to future students that may be a little more “off the beaten path”?
There’s a street my Catalan friend showed me called Carrer de Blai. Tons of good places for drinks and tapas – it’s in a neighborhood called Poble Sec.
What is one piece of advice that you have for future students coming to Barcelona?
Don’t be afraid to try new things. Be it food, cultural activities, or whatever, the best way to make the most out of your experience is to just get out there and try everything you can.
