If you were to sum up your Barcelona experience in one to two words, what would you say? My Barcelona Experience is…
Life-Changing, Unforgettable
Explain why you chose those words.
I chose those words because they’re the closest I can get to explaining what the program meant to me–no other words come close to describing the phenomenal experience I had.
What was your favorite place to eat in Barcelona? Favorite food?
Konig by Plaza Catalunya has such an amazing atmosphere filled with locals, delicious and affordable tapas, and very friendly staff!! I love croquettes!! Gusto also has some delicious pizza!
What was your favorite tour, day trip, or cultural activity? Why?
San Sebastian by far!! San Sebastian is hands down one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. I can’t wait to go back there–I wish I could have stayed there longer! The scenery is breathtaking and getting to be there when the festivals were going was amazing!!
What was your housing experience like? Did you live in an apartment with other students? A homestay with a local family? A residence hall on your Barcelona campus?
I lived in a gorgeous apartment with roommates on Avinguda Gaudi. This apartment was so much more spacious and beautiful than I ever would have expected. Friends of ours were even jealous of how amazing the apartment was. I met some of the bet people I know by living in this apartment, and stayed in a part of town that I never would have been able to afford otherwise.
Is there a site in Barcelona that you would recommend to future students that may be a little more “off the beaten path”?
I would recommend that people go to La Bombeta and get the bombas. Sooo delicious! I’d never heard of these until my history teacher at UAB told us about them, and I’m so glad I found them! The restaurant is near the beach in the Barceloneta area, very affordable, the staff is very friendly and helpful and it is definitely a local hotspot–I loved the atmosphere there. I wish I could have gone there more frequently!
Also, the Pudding Diagonal locations are great! One has a Harry Potter theme and one an Alice in Wonderland theme–they each have some delicious food as well! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Why was Barcelona SAE the right program for you?
I love how much we got to do with other students in the program and all of the parts of Spain we got to see, especially for the price we paid. Choosing to study abroad with the BarcelonaSAE program was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made
