Jalan Gunning

Currently based in North Carolina, Jalan (she/her/hers) was raised in Raleigh, NC.  She obtained her bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communications from the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, NC (AGGIE PRIDE!).  While there, Jalan found her love for the Spanish language and declared it her minor.  Shortly after, in order to immerse herself in the language, she studied abroad in Spain with Barcelona SAE.  Post-graduation, Jalan joined Teach for America where she made it her mission to level the playing field when it comes to education for black and brown students.  Jalan used her time in the classroom to expose her students to her cultural experience in Barcelona, specifically by sharing stories about her host family, the many travel opportunities, and the food (she loves tortilla de patata and patatas bravas). In her free time, Jalan enjoys exercising, reading, socializing with friends, and catching up on Netflix shows.
